- January 11, 2024, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Canada has ceased all consular certification. According to the provisions of the Convention, additional certificates issued by a country are used to prove the authenticity of the signature on the official document, the identity of the signatory of the instrument, and the authenticity of the seal on the instrument when necessary. The completion of the Canadian additional certificate does not necessarily mean that the official document will be accepted by the Chinese part. Please confirm with the Chinese local part the specific requirements for the format, content, translation, etc. of any foreign official documents before applying for notarization and Apostille.

Important information
- On November 7, 2023 and January 11, 2024, the Convention on the Cancellation of Requirements for the Certification of Foreign Public Instruments (hereinafter referred to as the "Convention") has entered into force for China and Canada. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China and the Macao Special Administrative Region have previously acceded to the Convention. Official documents issued by Canada within the scope of the Convention only need to apply for additional Canadian certificates to be sent to mainland China for use, and do not need to apply for consular certification of Canada and Chinese embassies and consulates in Canada.

Need to get your documents translated between Chinese and English? We can certainly help!
Our qualified translators will translate your documents from Chinese to English or from English to Chinese. The translation will be accompanied with an Affidavit signed by the translator before a notary public confirming its accuracy.
